Guarantees

How long is the commercial guarantee valid?  
Each commercial guarantee lasts for the number of years stated in the product details attached to each product, starting from the day of purchase.  

  

What will IKEA do to correct the problem?  
Upon receipt of the product, IKEA will examine the product and decide, at its sole discretion, if it is covered under the commercial guarantee. If considered covered, IKEA will then either repair the defective product or replace it with the same or a comparable product. If a product is covered by a commercial guarantee, IKEA shall pay the costs of repairs, spare parts, labour and travel for repair staff, provided that the product is accessible for repair without special expenditure. This does not apply to any repair work not authorised by IKEA. All the replaced defective parts become the property of IKEA. If the product is no longer sold by IKEA, it will be replaced by a similar product. IKEA will provide an appropriate replacement at its sole discretion. 

  

Terms and conditions 

The guarantee takes effect from the date of purchase of the product in IKEA. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase. The guarantee is not transferable. It is only valid for the buyer. It does not carry over to the next owner. 

  

Exclusions 

The guarantee does not apply to products that have been stored or assembled incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered, or cleaned using wrong cleaning methods or wrong cleaning products. Natural wear and tear of the product or change in its properties is not considered a defect in quality, therefore it is not covered by the guarantee, as well as any accidental breakage, scratches, etc. The guarantee does not apply for products stored outdoors or in a humid environment or used for non-domestic purposes (unless permitted by the product specification). The guarantee does not cover consequential or incidental damages.

General legal rights 
The guarantee entitles the buyer specific legal rights during the guarantee period. These rights do not in any way limit the buyer’s rights guaranteed by law, including the buyer’s rights in the event of purchase of a defective product or service. Please keep the original purchase receipt  as it is required for the guarentee to be valid. For more information on the specific guarantee conditions, please refer to the guarantee description attached to each product. 
 
  

As-Is (Umbúðalaust) 

In Umbúðalaust we sell products that have have been used as samples or have small defects. These products are sold in that condition and cannot be returned. If there is a defect in these products, which is not related to appearance defects or damage that was not there at the time of purchase, there is a 2-year guarantee from the date of purchase. 

Bathroom

They are tested under the highest standards in domestic applications. This guarantee is subject to the terms and conditions stated in the PDF below.

There’s a 10-year guarantee for ÄNGSJÖN, HAVBÄCK, TÄNNFORSEN, ENHET, HAGAÅN series, LETTAN and FAXÄLVEN mirrors and mirror cabinets, TOLKEN and ÅLSKEN countertops, ALMAÅN legs, as well as bathroom wash-basins, mixer taps and shower mixers. Shower accessories have a 3-year guarantee.

We offer you a 25-year guarantee  that covers defects in the material and workmanship on the METOD kitchen system.  All kitchen mixer taps have a 10-year guarantee and all IKEA appliances have a free 5-year guarantee (except for LAGAN and TILLREDA for which we offer a free 2-year guarantee). 

This guarantee is valid for domestic kitchen use and is subject to the terms and conditions stated in the PDF below.
