No. If you follow the instructions, you can install them on your own. Used singularly, the blind is ready to be used. If you want to group several together, you need to pair them. When you use a singular and already paired blind, plug in the repeater, insert the battery into the remote control and then mount the blind. We recommend performing the pairing before mounting the blinds to the wall or ceiling. It’s ideal to place the blinds on a table when pairing. The blind comes with 1 BRAUNIT rechargeable battery pack. The battery pack is pre-charged and ready to use.

Control and steering

With remote control

With a remote control. 1 single remote control (once paired to multiple blinds) can steer up to 10 blinds.

Yes, follow these steps to pair additional blinds.

  1. Open the back cover of the open/close remote and find the pairing button.
  2. Short press on both buttons on the blind. The device is now awake and ready to pair for 2 minutes.
  3. Hold the open/close remote very close to the wireless roller blind that you want to add (no more than 5cm away from the blinds' battery lid).
  4. Press and hold the pairing button for at least 10 seconds on the wireless open/close remote.
  5. A red light will shine steadily on the open/close remote. On your wireless roller blind, a white light will begin to dim and flash until the devices are paired successfully.

You can pair up to 10 blinds. Please note that, if you have more than one blind, they might go up and down at slightly different speeds but this is normal.

With 1 short press on the remote – the blinds will go up or down continuously. Press once again to stop. Do not double-click or click the remote repeatedly, as this can send multiple signals/commands to the blinds.

The remote control can steer the blinds from a distance of 32 feet.

The air purifier comes with a filter for particle removal, but you can add a filter for gas cleaning to use in addition to the particle filter.

With IKEA Home smart app

You need the TRÅDFRI gateway (sold separately) to use the IKEA Home smart app. Download the app for free via Google Play or App Store depending on which mobile device you have. A step-by-step guide on how to pair and add blinds can be found in the IKEA Home smart app. Download the IKEA Home smart app for iOS or Android here

The pre-set functions in the IKEA Home smart app can create the same settings from one day to the next.

Using the TRÅDFRI gateway and IKEA Home smart app, you can control the blinds from anywhere as long as you are connected to the same WiFi as the gateway. Some app/HomeKit suppliers offer steering away from home.

Batteries and recharge

The blind comes with the recharged battery pack. After usage, it takes around 4-5 hours to recharge the battery pack with the IKEA charger.

With an average usage of up and down once per day, a fully charged battery should last 4 to 6 months before needing a recharge. As with any battery, the ability to retain charging power will gradually reduce over time.

With an average usage of up and down once per day, the remote battery should last 2 years. As with any battery, the ability to retain charging power will gradually reduce over time.

You can gently pull FYRTUR down by hand. If you want to make the blind go up, you need to recharge the battery pack for a minimum time in order to steer the blind. We recommend avoiding draining the battery pack or the remote control battery so as not to lose the connection to the remote control.

Factory reset

On the blind, press both buttons together for more than 5 seconds.

Press the pairing button on the remote control 4 times.

Troubleshooting for Smart blinds

My FYRTUR roller blind is not working, what should I do?

After plugging in the signal repeater for the first time, it may take a couple of minutes for all the electronic parts to start communicating together. This is the same if it is unplugged or if there is a power shortage.

If delays persist, the blind is not moving, and the remote control does not respond, try the 3 steps below to solve the problem:

Step 1 – Charging and installation.

Step 2 - Resetting.

Step 3 - Pairing.

Step 1 - Charging and installation

Check if the battery in the blind and in the remote is fully charged and working. Charge or exchange if needed. Make sure the batteries and all components are installed correctly.

  1. Plug in the signal repeater.
  2. Install the charged battery in the blind.
  3. Install/exchange the charged battery in the remote control.
  4. Check the remote control function.
  5. Press the down button to make the blind go down.

Note - if the remote control function is not working, the blind may have lost its connection. If the blind is still not working after step 1, proceed to step 2 and 3.

Step 2 - Resetting

Make sure to reset the remote control, the signal repeater and the blind according to the information below.

Blind

  1. Press and hold both buttons for 5 seconds.
  2. A white LED light will flash 4 times, indicating that the blind has been reset.

Step 3 - Pairing (A and B)

Make sure to successfully pair the remote control, the signal repeater and the blind according to the information below.

A. The signal repeater must be paired first

Place the remote control close to the signal repeater. Press the pairing button on the remote control until the red light flashes and is then steady again. It will take around 10 seconds. A white light will begin to dim and flash one time to indicate that it has been successfully paired.

B. Pairing the remote control and blind

  • Quick press on both buttons on the blind. This will wake up the device and make it ready for pairing for 2 minutes.
  • Hold the remote close to the wireless blind you want to add, and no more than 2 inches away from the blind.
  • Press and hold the pairing button on the remote for at least 10 seconds.
  • A red LED light will shine on the remote. On your wireless blind, a white LED light will begin to dim and flash until the devices have been successfully paired.

After going through these 3 steps, you will most probably be able to control and operate your blind again. If your blind is still not working, please try again to reset and perform the pairing.
