Start by measuring the height in at least three spots, since the ceiling and/or floor may be uneven. It’s important to measure the exact spot where you want to install the doors, especially if they will be mounted to a slanted ceiling.
Note that the frames can add up to 9 cm to the total door height. The ceiling-mounted frame may add or subtract ±0.6 cm. If you're only a few centimeters short in height, you can “lower” the ceiling height using special ceiling tracks for sliding door frames (not available at IKEA). If there is a large gap between the sliding doors and the ceiling, you can use the SKYTTA ceiling fitting to reduce the height and cover the gap with a panel that can be painted to match the rest of the room. You can also consult a professional to ensure the perfect fit.
The doors are available in two widths: 77 cm and 102 cm. You can combine them however you like. Place them side-by-side so they overlap slightly—this prevents gaps between the doors. As a result, the total width of your SKYTTA combination will be slightly less than the combined width of the doors. If space is tight, a wider overlap is possible. Note that if you choose transparent doors, the rear door will be visible through the front one
You need a track both on the ceiling and the floor. Each track is 200 cm long and can be connected and shortened as needed. If you choose two, four, or more doors, we recommend using a double track. For three doors, we recommend a triple track, which allows all the doors to slide to the same side, creating the widest possible opening. Keep in mind that the ceiling track is deeper than the floor track due to the molding. The double track adds 8.1 cm in depth, and the triple track adds 12.2 cm.
Add a stopper to frame your sliding doors and protect the wall. The stopper can be placed over baseboards. SKYTTA stoppers are available in white and come in two widths to fit the tracks. Each stopper is 1.8 cm thick and 240 cm high, but can be cut to your desired length.
Once you’ve taken your measurements and have an idea of the setup you want, you can design it using the planning tool. It gives you a better sense of how your solution will look. In the tool, you can add products to your cart and complete your purchase in the online store. The tool also includes detailed instructions for setting up your SKYTTA solution.
